Reading Together. Making Disciples.

At FUMC, our Library Ministries reflect our commitment to lifelong learning, spiritual growth, and community connection. Whether you’re a child discovering the joy of reading or an adult seeking thoughtful resources for study and inspiration, our libraries offer welcoming spaces filled with meaningful books and opportunities to grow in faith!
Children’s Library
Dedicated on August 27, 2023, our Children’s Library is located in the Rec Lobby and was made possible through generous book donations from the congregation. While it’s available year-round, it plays a special role during the summer months as part of our reading initiatives for children.
In 2021, FUMC launched Reading with Friends, a four-week summer reading program for children in first through fifth grade focused on building literacy skills, confidence, and creativity through one-on-one reading, arts, and recreation. Inspired by Project Transformation (PT), the program eventually applied to become an official PT site.
Today, Project Transformation serves as our primary summer literacy program, offering an eight-week experience filled with reading, enrichment activities, and relationship-building for children across our community. The Children’s Library supports this mission by providing a permanent, accessible space for PT participants, School for Little People families, and neighborhood children to explore and grow through books.
Undercroft Library
The Undercroft Library is FUMC’s adult library, offering a collection of fiction, nonfiction, and religious materials. Originally located on the first floor, the library was relocated to the Undercroft during the Standing Together Capital Campaign that began in 2020. This space has served generations of readers at FUMC—providing resources for personal enrichment, Bible study, and sermon preparation for our ministers.
The Undercroft Library is sustained entirely by book donations and operates through a simple self-checkout system. Visitors are welcome to borrow up to two books at a time by signing and placing the checkout card in the designated box under their last name’s initial. Books may be kept for two weeks, after which the card is returned to the book. All are invited to browse, borrow, and enjoy the library as a resource for spiritual growth and lifelong learning.
