Third Anniversary of Dinner and a Movie
In September 2022, FUMC began hosting “Dinner and a Movie Night,” opening our doors to share a nice meal and enjoy a movie with our neighbors on the third Tuesday of every month. Now we’re approaching the 3rd anniversary of this ministry, with the largest attendance to date in August 2025, featuring over 90 guests and volunteers in total.
Through trial and error, and with the help of a dedicated crew of volunteers and church staff, Dinner and a Movie has grown and expanded as an award-winning ministry of the church. In October of 2023, we launched a Hygiene “Store” and began offering much-needed hygiene items to our unhoused and food-insecure neighbors each month. Last year, we hosted our first Winter Clothing Pop-Up “Store” in December and January, with plans to relaunch the store this winter.
In 2024, Carrie Minniear, a pioneering volunteer of Dinner and a Movie, received the Harry Denman Evangelism Award (Laity) for her work with the Dinner and a Movie ministry and with the Wesley campus ministry at Midwestern State University. In the Spring of 2025, First United Methodist Church of Wichita Falls was recognized by the Horizon Texas Conference for our Strategic Priority of Pursuing and Embracing Diversity within our district through the Dinner and a Movie ministry.

Hygiene Drive
Every six months (in March and September), the church hosts a Hygiene Drive to help us restock our most frequently requested hygiene products. For up-to-date information about what the Hygiene Store needs, please check out our Amazon Wish List. All donations are appreciated! Drop off donations at the church office or in any of the buckets at our main building entrances.
