Meet and greet with Rev. Aaron Logan on Thursday mornings, beginning July 9, in the Hospitality Room (110) from 7:00 to 8:30 a.m. Coffee and donuts provided. Please use the Chapel Entrance for this event.

Children’s Day of Service

Children 3rd through 5th grade (complete) are invited to register for our Children’s Day of Service on August 4. BYOLunch. Children will serve at the Wichita Falls Area Food Bank in the morning and at Interfaith Outreach Services in the afternoon. Youth Mission Trip Recap

The FUMC Youth are heading to Shreveport, Louisiana for their annual mission trip! Join the students on Sunday, August 9, for a recap of their trip at 9:15 a.m. in Fellowship Hall. Students will speak about what they accomplished and also share their personal stories of experiencing God’s presence through the people they encountered. All are welcome!

WFISD Prayer Walk

Join FUMC for our annual WFISD Prayer Walk on Sunday, August 9, at 1:00 p.m. Each year, we gather at every campus in the Wichita Falls ISD to spend a few minutes in prayer as another school year begins. RSVP to the campus of your choice online. A representative of FUMC is needed at each campus to help lead in prayer—contact Georgia Harrison at gharrison@fumcwf.org to volunteer. Our goal is that each campus and all its students, teachers, and administrators be covered in prayer at the start of this new school year!

Back to Church Bonanza

Splash back into the rhythm of the year on Sunday, August 23, after worship! Wear your favorite tropical shirt and join FUMC for the Back to Church Bonanza! We’ll have indoor and outdoor fun for all ages, including waterslides and foam in the church park, and music and entertainment in Fellowship Hall! Lunch and Kona Ice provided. BYOSwimsuit—goggles are recommended for the foam zone. This event is free to attend—in place of a fee, donations are appreciated and will go to the Race for Grace, the largest annual fundraiser benefiting Grace Children’s Hospital (GCH) in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. The Society of St. Simeon

The Society of St. Simeon will kick off on August 25! This group meets monthly on the fourth Tuesday to fellowship, pray, read scripture, discuss one to two chapters of a book, and share communion. At the first meeting of the year, a variety of books will be presented for the group to vote for which they’d like to study. First Wednesday Dinner

First Wednesday Dinners return September 2! Join FUMC for dinner on the First Wednesday of every month at 6:00 p.m. in Fellowship Hall. The cost of the meal is $5/person or $20 max/family. Vegetarian and child-friendly meal options are available.

Children’s Lemonade Stand Fundraiser

Following the worship service on September 13, stop by the FUMC Children’s Lemonade Stands! Cool down with a cup of lemonade and help the children raise money for the Wichita Falls Area Food Bank! All children through 5th grade are invited to participate. Parents and adult volunteers are needed to help set up. 2026 Elizabeth Prothro Organ Concert

Join FUMC for the 2026 Elizabeth Prothro Organ Concert on Sunday, October 4, at 3 p.m. in the Sanctuary. This event is free to attend. Nursery care will be available for infants six weeks old through age 4.

Joining Sunday

Anyone is welcome to join the church at the conclusion of the worship service on any Sunday, however, we recognize that walking to the front of the congregation may be intimidating and a bit awkward, so each quarter FUMC offers a Joining Sunday.

A Joining Sunday is an opportunity to learn more about FUMC Wichita Falls and to unite with the church in a relaxed setting with a small group. After discussing what it means to become a part of this congregation through our membership vows, the group takes the membership vows together.

Five Ways to Unite with First United Methodist Church:

1. The profession of faith in Jesus Christ and baptism

A person who begins the Christian life does so through baptism, a symbol of God’s grace through Jesus Christ. For a young person or an adult, this also is an opportunity to profess one’s faith. If God is leading you to this decision, one of the pastors will be happy to visit with you about this step in your spiritual life. Upon baptism, we’ll ask this question for membership: “As a disciple of Jesus Christ, will you support the United Methodist Church with your prayers, your presence, your gifts, your service, and your witness?”

2. Reaffirmation of faith if you have already been baptized

3. Transfer of membership from another United Methodist Church

We arrange to transfer your membership from another United Methodist Church after asking this question for membership: “As a disciple of Jesus Christ, will you support the United Methodist Church with your prayers, your presence, your gifts, your service, and your witness?”

4. Transfer membership from another denomination

If you were baptized into the Christian faith in another denomination, it is not necessary to be re-baptized to celebrate your spiritual growth. We ask this question for membership: “As a disciple of Jesus Christ, will you support the United Methodist Church with your prayers, your presence, your gifts, your service, and your witness?” The church staff will handle the details of notifying your former church.  

Why don’t we re-baptize?

Since baptism is ultimately a sign of what GOD DOES, not what we do, the United Methodist Church does not think that re-baptism is necessary. God always upholds God’s end of the covenant even when we do not. Baptism is God’s gift to us, and nothing was wrong with it no matter where, how, or by whom it occurred. God has not stopped loving us.  

However, we encourage a Reaffirmation of Faith (see pg. 33 in the UM Hymnal) where one acknowledges again the gift God gave in baptism. We can reaffirm that gift (accept it again without going through it again).

5. Become an affiliate or associate member

If you are a United Methodist whose membership is in another city or state and you wish to retain that membership in your “home” church, you can become an Affiliate Member. As an Affiliate Member, you are granted pastoral oversight and full participation in our church, but you will not be added to the church rolls. Members of other Christian denominations may elect to become Associate Members under the same conditions.
