The Keystone Class at FUMC
The Body of Christ . . . Held Together by Christ

About our class:

  • Our class was formed in 1945 as a young couples class. In 1947, Art McCrory suggested the name, Keystone, derived from the arch, which was contributed to civilization by the Romans. The arch was held together at the top by the keystone. Similarly, our lives and our class are held together by Christ, who is our keystone.
  • Today, we are a very close class that welcomes visitors with the same warmth that we share with each other. Our class includes men and women who are single, married and widowed. Most of us range in age from our 60s to our 80s, but all are welcome to attend our class.
  • We take a weekly offering, which helps us to support several charities throughout the year, and we also provide Bibles to the Third Graders every year.

What and how do we study?

  • To guide us in our study of the Bible, we use the Adult Bible Study series, also known as the International Lesson Series. It presents stimulating lessons that explore the biblical message and how to apply it to daily life. It moves from a focus on the Word of God to reflection on personal, family, church, and community concerns.
  • Bill Boucher is our primary teacher.

Where does the Keystone Class meet?

  • We meet in the Rec. Lobby basement area of the Education Wing in room 5-R.

What time do we meet?

  • Our class meets from 9:20 to 10:10 each Sunday morning, allowing time for members to attend either the 8:30 or 10:30am Worship Services at FUMC.

Fellowship Activities:

  • In addition to meeting weekly for class, we also out to eat together a few times a year. We also share in an Annual Christmas Dinner Party.
