The
Berean Class Mission Statement
To
provide a comfortable, supportive fellowship where members seek spiritual
fulfillment and learn God's purpose for their lives.
About our
class:
- We
get our name from Acts 17:11 that states: "Now the Bereans
were of more noble character than the Thessalonians, for they received
the message with great eagerness and searched the Scriptures everyday
to see if what Paul said was true." We believe that we fit
this mold from Scripture.
- We
are a friendly and inclusive group of women and men whose ages range
between the 30s-50s. Some of us are married; some are single; and
some have children. Several of our members are even in the military.
In all instances, we provide a supportive fellowship to all members.
- In
addition, we see ourselves as "fun, fun, fun," and we are
active in all aspects of the church. For us, this is a place to belong.
What and how do we study?
- Studies are chosen by the group,
and members of the class volunteer to teach lessons on a rotating
basis.
- Studies that we have done in the
past include various studies of the Bible (i.e. book of Romans),
Christian book reviews (i.e. The Purpose Driven Life), and studies
based on current events.
- Jerry
Rouse is our primary
teacher.
Where does
the Berean Class meet?
- We
meet in the Rec. Lobby of the Education Wing in Room 6-R.
What
time do we meet?
- Our
class meets from 9:20 to 10:15 each Sunday morning, allowing time
for members to attend either the 8:30 or 10:30am Worship Services
at FUMC.
Fellowship
Activities:
- We
do periodic "after Church" lunches where we eat out at
a restaurant or share in a pot luck. We also have holiday gatherings
as well as adult and / or family gatherings including: bar-b-cues,
bowling, swim parties, gathering in people's home, etc.
